The River Ouse at Hamsey is located just outside Lewes. The club controlled stretch is bisected by the Weir near the car park.
Down stream from this, the water is completely tidal whilst above the weir, the river is only partly affected by the tides-becoming tidal with tides of about 5.7 and greater.
The society has access to stretches two fields below the wier and three fields above-up to where a drainage ditch enters.
As well as the expected river species, notably, large carp have been caught above the weir where the backstream enters on the far side,
there are also reports of decent barbel being caught further upstream by the reeds.
There is also a seasonal run of large grey mullet as well as sea trout.
